Hello everyone! We hope you all are feeling fresh and ready for the new year and hope that it is everything you need it to be.

I have our projects set up for school this month, and I thought that I would just make a quick blog and share them with you here are just a few.
  • As everyone that follows (www.facebook.com/POMCmomma)  Nate's story knows Monday is our Baking Day and boy I am looking forward to our monthly 'Raddish' box to help with our kitchen skills, (no they are not paying me to advertise) They have a whole lot to offer the homeschool community look for the link on their page, and their Bonus bites. I have already made little books out of the information they have on the website. https://www.raddishkids.com/


  • As part of our 'daily walkies' we will now be going for a lot of bike rides! Nate got a super bike just before the holidays and we had special pedals added so he could safely ride it. I love it, he loves it!

  • Thanks to our 'evac-u-cation' we have various goodies from the many field trips we went on in September, and they fit right in with our curriculum. So I will be printing out pictures and will make some little keep sake photo books to help jog Nate's memory. I am still constantly experiencing waves of gratitude and appreciation to everyone that helped us get away.We had so many that helped with donations and I am forever grateful... And to my wonderful sister-in-law and nephews for making us feel so welcome and loved for such an extended time. (we were upstate NY for a month!) 



  • I have still been busy with my awareness activity quietly in the background and I've been involved with several corporations that are a part of the 'Rare Disease' patient support community.Working via phone and emails creating questionnaires and helping doctors understand our side of rare disease

  • Rare Disease Day 2018 is fast approaching on Feb 28th and I want to do something special for that like we do every year...I am open to ideas and suggestions PLEASE!

  • Nate has been after me to help him with his YouTube channel so keep you eyes out for new videos on his channel " Just Nate8"

  • Oh and BIG news pending!! Nate's Endocrinologist has told us that we will able to be included in an exciting new clinical study!! We are in contact with the doctors in Germany as well some of the patients and everyone talks about the wonderful results seen by everyone! I have wonderful contacts at Rhythm as well. Check out the 'Patient stories' on that website you will see Nate.  www.geneticobesity.com  

I am excited to see what new and exciting things will be coming our way this year!

 Faith & Trust and a little Pixie-dust I am not even sure how to start this off without it becoming a complete chaotic word salad. Let me first off say that we both are fine and have no problems self isolating. That is normal life for us. for all you that have this as something new I want to say welcome to POMC Island lifestyle. The only changes I had to make was that now I only shop once a month and when I do it's with mask and gloves on and I wipe everything down. We have always been as close to self isolation as possible and after a decade I would say we are experts. Like everyone now I have learned how to do even more things online. one of the newest things for me is looking for a new apartment! Not just a new place but one that is over a thousand miles away from here. Yes! we are moving back home to Vermont!!  I am so excited to once again be back among the green mountains and to be around extended family and loved ones will be such a balm to my wounds!...

The rest of Grade 4

Ok I'm not sure both my children would agree that I am 'Hip' but I really am more 'Groovy' than Hip  that being said I just want to catch my thoughts up on Nate's second half of his grade 4 year. now as December comes to a close I am reviewing all that he has done and I am please to see he has done quite well. He wasn't ready for grade 5 back in September so I gave him a bit of a break and just focused on repeating some things that we glossed over but he needed to move forward with. January starts him in Grade 5 and he is ready.

Our Summer Evac-U-Cation

 Our summer was chock full of Adventures with a capital "A". Hurricane Irma set her cap to come our way and because of Nate's many medical issues I was urgently setting things into place, various things that I could only hope would keep him safe from the unknown safe from the what ifs. Now I will be the first to tell you that I love storms. I love the sounds and the smells of a good thunderstorm. Hurricanes too, well that was before Nate came into the world. now they bring a whole kettle of worry So as things happened, a friend of mine insisted that we reach out to our 'Island of friends' on social media to help us evacuate to NY/Vermont. So I did. Wow!!!! In a matter of hours we had enough funds to get us there. What an amazing blessing! Just the trip in its self was a overwhelming challenge but I did it. I did it with a LOT of help from my friends. So, what normally would take 2 days. ( 24 hours drive time) took us 4 days. Four long 9 hour days of ...
